March 4th, They Arrived

Out for dinner

We went walkabout in the area around the marina and landed at Le France, the proprietor worked us over on the sidewalk and we relented...the food was good and the service  from Isac was great. Isac is on his way to Quebec to continue his travels. We tried to help him with his french and would have made Google translate proud.
I tried to follow Rick's french and overheard him saying: Devons-nous payer. Est de 1% de trop à la pointe? Prenez toutes les serviettes que nous pouvons les utiliser sur le bateau. (my apologies for the google french).
OMG! We have found Christmas ladys sister Wallamina. She and at least three kept men live under a tree over by a retaining wall near where we are moored. Oh the things we have seen? One of the female Fagan`s minion was observed defecating  on the beach stern to us...(This was an isolated event and in no way reflects what we have seen elsewhere in St. Martin).
We went shopping for groceries at the Grande Marché. Great store, it is over the border on the dutch side and has everything. Prices are reasonable. When the total hit the cash I collapsed to my knees and they had the defibrillator ready. The cash chick had obviously seen this phenomenon before and quickly told me the total was in Guilders and only half as much in U.S. Oh, not so bad. I thought.
We walked to the store. Louise told us it was only a short walk. She uses Alexander the great units related to a short walk. This was a four or five beer walk (if there had been beer).
The grocery gave us a free ride with our groceries back to the marina. Five of us, two seats...Picture going to jail in a paddy wagon in the Caribbean. That was us. I got to sit on the life jacket. You might wonder like we did why the grocery van had life jacket...
More as the day unfolds...
